Yorkshire Cycling Federation's Cyclo Cross took place at Grange Moor Motor Cross circuit on Sunday. Thick mud on the whole course made it really tough for all the riders and there were plenty of broken bikes & sore legs by the end of the afternoon. It was a clean sweep of the podium positions for Huddersfield Star Wheelers in the Under 8s race. Luca Longo took his 2nd win of the season followed home by clubmates Dylan Boyes & Alex Bailey.
Kirklees Cycling Academy siblings Henry & Mason Hollyman were also at the sharp end of their races. Mason won the Under 12s race & Henry was 2nd to Ava Oxley (Wakefield Junior Tri) in the Under 10s, Adam Bailey (Huddersfield Star Wheelers) was 7th.
The Youth race was won by Levi Moody (Pedalsport CC) despite breaking his chain on the last lap & having to run to the finish, Holme Valley Wheeler Joe Williams was 7th.
James Sharp won the Senior/Junior/Women/Veteran race, John Hick (Holme Valley Wheelers) was best of the local riders in 4th place.
Conditions couldn't have been more different for the latest round of the National Trophy Cyclo Cross event in Southampton which took place in bright sunshine. Amira Mellor (Holme Valley Wheelers) continued her good form with 4th place in the Under 16 Girls race just 1 second ahead of Harsthead youngster Abby Parkinson (RST Racing Team-Trigon), the race was won by Jessica Wilkinson (Birkenhead North End). Mellor is 3rd place overall in the series after 3 events.
