Darley Moor Youth Race Win for Cullaigh

Holme Valley youngster Gabriel Cullaigh (RST Racing Team-Trigon) had his first win of 2012 in the Youth race at Darley Moor near Ashbourne in Derbyshire on Saturday. Cullaigh attacked after 2 laps of the 6 lap race & held the bunch off for a fine solo win.

This race obviously wasn’t hard enough as also rode the 34mile Elite race afterwards & held his own against some very strong opposition finishing in the top 20. Huddersfield Pro rider Tom Murray (IG Sigma Sport) got in the race winning break of 4 riders but just missed out in the sprint to Jamie Shirlaw (Team Herbalife-Leisure Lakes Bikes).

Murray’s team have recently been confirmed as riding in the Tour Series along with former Holme Valley Wheeler & Olympic Gold Medallist Ed Clancy & his team Rapha Condor Sharp . The televised town centre races kick off in Kirkcaldy, Fife on Tuesday May 15th.

Lee Brown (Holme Valley Wheelers) just missed out on a podium place in the Tameside Season Starter Race No 3 on Sunday at Ashton Under Lyne. Brown was well positioned throughout the 50 minute race for 4th Category riders & finished 4th in the bunch gallop. The race was won by Adam Blakeley (Pendle Forest CC).

Brown was also in action in the last Friday Night Track League event until October. Riding in the top group his best result was 2nd place in the Devil race.
